Perdue Foundation Awards $20,000 Grant To Fund New ‘Turnout’ Gear For Cromwell Volunteer Fire Department In Kentucky

February 20, 2018

Salisbury, Md. (Tuesdy, February 20, 2018) — Perdue Farms has presented a $20,000 Franklin P. and Arthur W. Perdue Foundation grant to the Cromwell Volunteer Fire Department for the purchase of eight new sets of personal protective equipment – or turnout gear – for firefighters. The Perdue Foundation is the charitable giving arm of Perdue Farms.

“We’re thrilled to have the support of Perdue Farms and the Perdue Foundation’s generous donation to replace our outdated gear,” said Cromwell Assistant Fire Chief Scotty Phelps. “A firefighter’s turnout gear is their most important equipment in protecting them from the harsh elements they encounter when responding to fires and other emergencies. This funding helps secure their safety of our firefighters while helping protect the lives of our citizens in Ohio County, including Perdue associates and their families.”

As Mark Knight, director of operations at Perdue’s facility in Cromwell, explains, “At Perdue, we have a long history of supporting volunteer fire companies and the men and women who risk their lives to come to the rescue of others. We are pleased to provide them with this new equipment to assure they can fullfill their calling to serve others in their time of need.”
