Perdue Associates Celebrate Cultural Diversity In Georgetown, Del.
August 24, 2018
Salisbury, Md. (Friday, August 24, 2018) — Perdue associates from more than a dozen countries recently shared their cultures, costumes, and heritages with their fellow workers and community leaders during the second annual Diversity Day celebration at the Perdue Foods operation in Georgetown, Del.
Diversity Day is a much-anticipated, celebration featuring music, dancing, educational displays and food native to the nearly 30 countries represented across the plant’s workforce of 1,350 associates.
“Diversity Day provides a lasting impact for our associates, one of an even stronger sense of unity across the Georgetown operation,” said Aleeshia Belle, human resources associate relations representative and event coordinator. “Associates spend a lot of time creating their costumes and displays representing their customs and the heritage of their countries. They take a lot of pride in this event and sharing it with one another, and with the community.”
As Kelly Fladger, chief diversity and inclusion officer for Perdue Farms, explains, “Diversity and inclusion are critical to who we are as a company. Our people are as diverse as our products and are representatives of the communities in which we operate. Events like this provide a platform for our associates to celebrate what makes each of us unique and creates an environment of inclusion.”
